Congratulations to Lesley Hurst (Masterton) for winning Age Concern Wairarapa’s Senior of the Year award! Lesley has been a committed volunteer for many years – Age Concern, Wellington Free Ambulance and many more organisations.

๐—™๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ: Luther Toloa (Masterton) – Luther is well known for his voluntary work in the community and is a founding member of the Pasifika o Wairarapa Trust.

๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ: Frances Reiri-Smith (Gladstone) – Lovingly known as Nanny Frances, has worked tirelessly in the community and for Maori. Some of her work has included membership of Te Pae Oranga (Iwi justice Panel), Wairarapa Womenโ€™s Welfare league, Kuia Carterton District Council, support to Mฤori Mental Health Tautoko Ora Wananga, strong advocacy of Te Reo Mฤori, kaumatua and Kaikaranga for Hurunui o Rangi Marae

Carterton’s Rev Maki Lauvi also got a ๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป. A long serving minister, Rev Lauvi is an advocate of keeping the Samoan culture alive with language, tradition and faith. He is involved in many Pacific community groups and his kind, gentle, caring nature is an inspiration to all.
