Community Funding

The Council administers a variety of funds which are available for projects, events and services provided for the Carterton community:

  • Community Grants Fund
  • Creative Communities Scheme
  • Sport New Zealand Rural Travel Fund
  • Carterton and Districts Returned and Services Memorial Trust Fund

 

Community Grants Fund
Funding is available for community groups for charitable, cultural, philanthropic, recreational and other purposes beneficial to the Carterton community.  There is one funding round per year held in July.
Application forms and funding criteria are available by:

  • Collection at the Carterton Events Centre, Holloway Street, Carterton

Carterton & Districts Returned & Services Memorial Trust Tertiary Grant
Applications for the Carterton & Districts Returned & Services Memorial Trust tertiary grants are invited from residents of the Carterton district who are direct descendants of veterans and servicemen.
The grants are provided by the Trust to students under 25 years of age to assist with expenses related to their tertiary education. There is one funding round per year held in February.
Application forms and funding criteria are available by:

Creative Communities Scheme
The Creative Communities Scheme is a relationship between Creative NZ and the Carterton District Council to support a wide range of community arts projects including: Craft/Object arts, Dance, Interarts, Literature, Ngā Toi Māori, Multidisciplinary artforms, Music, Pacific arts, Theatre and Visual arts.
The Council administers two funding rounds each financial year:

  • Round 1 closes 27 October 2017
  • Round 2 closes 27 April 2018

If you have previously received a grant, please ensure your organisation has completed and submitted the Project Report form below. The form needs to be returned within two months after the project/event is completed. This is a requirement before future funding will be considered.

 

Generosity New Zealand
The following funding Generosity NZ databases provide funding information for individuals and organisations which can be accessed from home or at the Carterton Library.  This is a free service:

  • givME Database – offers access to more than 4000 scholarships, awards and grants for individuals
  • givUS Database – offers access to more than 1200 resource opportunities for community, voluntary organisations and clubs
