Maintenance and resurfacing work scheduled for King Street has been delayed due to poor weather. The repairs, which include chip sealing, followed by sweeping and road marking, will now take place on Friday 11 October. King St will be closed for approximately two hours from 9am.

Weather

  • In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the work will be postponed until the next suitable day.

Parking

  • Please make sure your vehicle is not parked on the street during the above times. If it gets in the way it might have to be towed. If the towing operator is not able to return you car to where it was found, they are required to leave it in the nearest available park. If your car is missing, first check nearby streets before calling the contractor named below.

Safety

  • Please warn your children of the dangers posed by road-works. Ensure that they stand well back from the action and that they follow the directions of workers. It is also a good idea to keep pets indoors while work is in progress.

Noise and Dirt

  • Roadwork is a noisy, dirty business – but please bear with us. We will be doing all we can to minimise the impact on your household and business. Your co-operation and patience will help us get the job done as quickly as possible.

Easy Does It

  • Bitumen, concrete and other road repair materials require a bit of TLC after they are applied. Please treat all new surfaces with extra care for the two weeks following the completion of this project. Avoid excessive speed, sharp turns and heavy braking.

We’ll be back

  • All new roadwork is routinely monitored and in some cases workers may need to return to the site to do things like sweeping and repainting road markings. You will receive another notice like this one if further work is required.
