We’ve moved our water levels to Yellow: Only use sprinklers on alternate days.

This means sprinklers can now only be used on alternate days.

Use sprinklers or irrigation system only on even numbered days if you live in an even numbered house. If you live in an odd numbered house, the same rules apply for odd numbered days. Dividing houses spreads the load of daily water demand, and helps manage daily supply levels. You can use handheld watering devices any time, but don’t leave them unattended.

As the summer gets drier, we need to restrict how much water we use as a community.

There are a couple of big reasons for this:

1. We must make sure there is always enough water available for our Firies and emergency service crews.
2. Important natural ecosystems exist in our streams and water catchments – the more water we take, the more damage we cause.

What are our water levels?

Water restrictions may occur in times of high use, such as summer months. Council records daily water usage of properties connected to the urban water supply to help monitor water levels during the summer months, or when restrictions are in place.

The maximum daily supply Council can currently maintain is 2500 cubic metres per day.
