Carterton District Council advises residents that the water supply will be temporarily shut off on Thursday 9 April, between 9.00am and 3.00pm, to carry out a hydrant replacement in the Kent Street area. The residents effected have received a letter of notice in advance.
What our effected residents need to know
- Please store sufficient water for drinking and essential household use before 9.00am Thursday 9 April.
- Avoid using appliances that rely on water during the shutdown, such as dishwashers, washing machines, or hot water systems, as they may be affected.
- Water supply will be restored as soon as possible once work is complete.
After the water is restored
When water is turned back on, it’s recommended that you:
- Run a cold tap for a short time to clear any air or sediment from the lines.
- You may notice some air bubbles or temporary discolouration, this is normal and should clear quickly. It will not affect water quality or taste.
We apologise for any inconvenience this essential maintenance may cause and thank residents for their patience and understanding.
