Te Kopi Road in Carterton is closed at the bridge just past the Te Whiti Road turn‑off [Carterton end] due to bridge deck damage.
The closure is in effect immediately as a precautionary safety measure.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
Travel via Masterton through to Gladstone is the best alternative route for normal traffic.
An inspection is underway, with the next confirmed update to be issued after 10am Tuesday 24 March.
