If you are a Carterton ratepayer, you should by now have received a letter or email detailing the delay to rates caused by our Long Term Plan not yet being adopted.

Councillors will meet on Wednesday, 31 July, and will consider the payments schedule, LTP adoption, and adoption of Fees and Charges for the 2024/25 year.

What this means for you

We are changing the way we collect your rates this year. he rating year runs from 1 July until 30 June. Normally, Carterton District Council’s rates are set by 30 June each year. However, this year we will likely be setting the rates at the end of September, and probably with three invoices rather than the usual four. We normally send out rates invoices each quarter: in July, October, January, and April. This year, the first instalment has been skipped.

What do you need to do?

You do not have to do anything for now. You can wait for your invoice to arrive in October and arrange your first payment, OR;

You can smooth your rates by making a voluntary payment now. Carterton District Council is set up as a bill payee for most banks. Please use your valuation number in the reference field of your internet banking. Alternatively, you can pay on our website or at our office at 28 Holloway Street.
