In its July 31 meeting, Carterton District Council resolved to a different rates instalment schedule for properties in the district for the year. You will now receive three instalments for 2024/25, rather than four.
Why the change?
This year, delays in the consideration and adoption of the Long Term Plan has pushed out the setting of rates. Considering this, Council have opted to amend the payment schedule to three equal instalment dates, beginning in October/November.
What are the new instalment dates?
Rates instalment dates for the 2024/25 year each cover a period of four months:
- Instalment One: 1 July to 31 October, invoice issued October, due 20 November.
- Instalment Two: 1 November to 28 February, invoice issued January, due 20 February.
- Instalment Three: 1 March to 30 June, invoice issued April, due 20 May.
Note: These are the same dates you would usually make rates instalments 2, 3 and 4. Quarterly direct debits will take place on these instalment dates.
Do I need to do anything right now?
While you do not need to do anything, ratepayers are welcome to make payments in advance of receiving their rates invoices. These will be held in credit against rates accounts. Payments will continue for those with direct debit arrangements f you would like to adjust this, please contact our Rates Officer.
