Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Wairarapa

The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) is a nationwide network of New Zealand Mayors working together to help rangatahi (young people aged 16–24) move into employment, education, or training.

In the Wairarapa, our three councils proudly support this kaupapa through the MTFJ Community Employment Programme (CEP), delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). The programme focuses on helping local rangatahi find and maintain meaningful, sustainable, local employment.

Supporting Our Local Workforce
Across South Wairarapa, Carterton, and Masterton, the CEP connects young job seekers with local employers, training providers, and community organisations. By working together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient workforce and supporting local businesses to grow.

How MTFJ Supports Local Businesses
Businesses that join the programme can access funding and tailored support to hire new employees. The MTFJ Wairarapa team works alongside employers to identify opportunities, match the right people to the right roles, and provide wraparound support to help both businesses and rangatahi succeed.
