We’re seeking a new member for our Creative Communities Scheme committee member here at Carterton District Council.
This committee helps assess and allocate funding for a wide range of local arts projects, from youth initiatives and workshops to exhibitions, performances, cultural programmes, and community-led creative ideas.
A vacancy has opened, and we’re inviting applications or nominations from people who bring strong community insight, cultural understanding, or experience within the arts sector. A diversity of perspectives strengthens the committee’s decisions, so we welcome interest from a broad range of backgrounds and ages.
Role overview:
• Three-year term
• Volunteer / unpaid
• Around two meetings per year (plus preparation and reading time)
• Help allocate funding to 10–20 local arts projects annually
• Meaningful impact with a manageable commitment

We will be reviewing applications through February
Applicants will be notified of the results by the end of February. If successful, they will need to be available to attend first allocation hui in April 2026
