Works to upgrade the water main along Brooklyn Road kicked off this morning and detours are in place. The project begins with a four-week road closure (7am to 5pm, weekdays only) between High Street and Mac’s Lane. Once this is complete traffic management will switch to traffic lights as the work continues in stages down to the intersection of Brooklyn and Lincoln Roads.
The project is estimated to run until June. Footpaths will remain open for pedestrians and mobility equipment/scooters throughout the works period
KiwiRail also have works to complete on Brooklyn Road in 2025. As part of extensive upgrades to the Wairarapa Line, the rail crossing at Brooklyn Road will receive new cabling and safety features in March, to support a planned increased in rail services in 2029.
