Speak at a meeting

Public Forum

A public forum is provided at the start of meetings, where anyone can address elected members.

At least 24 hours’ notice is required if members of the public wish to speak at the public forum.

Call us on 06 379 4030 or email demservices@cdc.govt.nz  if you wish to participate.

Full details of the rules for speaking at the public forum is available in Section 15 of the Council Standing Orders.

Elected representative workshops

Council regularly holds workshops with elected representatives to enable the sharing of ideas and information with councillors and provide opportunities for staff to receive appropriate support, input, and direction for agenda items, consultation, and policy development. Workshops are not decision-making forums.

Most workshops are open to the public to attend. Attendance must be in person. Workshops are not live-streamed and attendance online is not available.

When dealing with matters of a sensitive nature or issues that require negotiations, workshops will be held as public- excluded with the reasons listed as per section 7 of the Local Government & Official Information Act 1987.

Contact our Democratic Services team on any matter relating to the agendas and minutes demservices@cdc.govt.nz .
