Carterton water restrictions are still in place, and could be increased due to damage caused to council’s water intake infrastructure after the Kaipatangata Stream, Cartertons’ primary water supply, flooded several days ago.

Cartertons’ water supply is being sourced from the councils Lincoln Road bores while repairs are undertaken. The repair process could take another 2-3 weeks, meaning that it is important that urban residents continue to conserve water under the current restrictions.

CDC Operations Manager Garry Baker and his team are working hard to have normal operations underway as soon as possible; however he encourages residents to think before irrigating their gardens. “We are operating under current level one water restrictions, but this could be increased to second level restrictions, meaning residents would only be able to use hand held hoses.”

“Our team will be monitoring the bore water levels daily, and will be able to inform residents quickly if water restrictions are to be increased.”

Carterton resident s can get the latest water restriction information via the Carterton District Council website or contact council office – 3794030.
