Preparing a special meal and joining with family around the table are visions that come to mind when we think of Christmas dinner.  For many families and individuals in our area, however, enjoying a special meal when finances are tight is just not possible.

This year, the Carterton Events Centre, Carterton District Council, Carterton Food bank & Carterton Salvation Army are joining forces to provide baskets of Christmas day food, and we’d love to have you involved.

From Monday 9 & Thursday 19 December we’re opening up the Carterton Events Centre foyer for your donations, this isn’t a drop in a can of baked beans kind of drop off, we’re hoping for cheeses, ham, crackers, chocolate, juice, nuts, fresh fruit, chutneys/sauces, Christmas crackers – anything that makes a real ”kiwi Christmas day meal” feeling happen.

Thanks to the amazing team at Wairarapa Electrical we have fridges available for perishable items, but please make sure they don’t expire before December 25.

Do you know a family who maybe needs one of these this year?  There’s an anonymous sign up form and drop box for you to pop their details into.

If you have any questions about this please contact Jenni at the Events Centre – 06 3794081 or
