A temporary speed limit and road reopening measures are being implemented to ensure the safety and efficiency of traffic flow on Hughes Lane during ongoing roadworks on State Highway 2 (SH2).

Northbound Closure remains in force; Southbound only reopening

The East Taratahi – Cornwall section of Hughes Line will reopen for southbound traffic only, starting from Tuesday 6 June. This section will remain open exclusively for southbound traffic until Waka Kotahi completes its works on State Highway 2.

Temporary Signage and Priority Traffic Measures

Waka Kotahi will remove the 100 km/hr sign at the start of the road section. Temporary signage indicating a speed limit of 70 km/hr will be installed for the reopening of the northern section. Priority traffic signs, such as one-lane bridge indicators, will also be placed at the culverts, giving priority to southbound traffic.

Ongoing Monitoring and Potential Road Closures

Council will closely monitor the situation to ensure public safety. For updates, please visit our website at cdc.govt.nz or follow us on Facebook. For further inquiries or assistance, please contact CDC at servicerequests@cdc.govt.nz or 06 379 4030.
