As you know, the Government’s new COVID Protection Framework [“traffic light”] comes into effect at 11.59pm on Thursday 2 December. Under this system, most businesses and facilities can choose whether or not they require vaccine passes.
However, without them, our events and facilities would have much tighter restrictions on how we can operate and how many people would be allowed to enter.
The Carterton Events Centre and its foyer, information desk, meeting rooms, Rangatahi Hub (scout hall), adjoining library, and Community Courthouse will all be Vaccine Pass areas.

Events Centre
What does this mean?
From Friday 3 December 2021, anybody aged 12 years and over will be required to show their Vaccine Pass upon entry to the building. We can accept both the printed version of the Vaccine Pass, or the digital version saved to your phone, but we will not accept purple vaccination cards.
If you are attending one of our ticketed events you will be asked to present your Vaccine Pass upon ticket purchase, as well as at the door when attending an event. This means that if you are purchasing tickets for other people, they will need to be able to present their Vaccine Pass upon entry to the event.
Please note we will be checking your Vaccine Pass each time you enter the Carterton Events Centre.
This is because we may have different staff rostered on to check Vaccine Passes, and because the passes have an expiry date on them.
We know this will be frustrating for our many regulars, but we need to ensure we’re following the Government regulations so we can continue to operate under the traffic light system.
What if I’ve already bought a ticket but I’m not vaccinated?
We will be able to provide a refund up to 48 hours prior to an event for anybody who has purchased a ticket prior to 3 December 2021 and can no longer attend due to their vaccination status.
Any tickets purchased from 3 December onwards will require the person to have a Vaccine Pass.
We will not provide refunds for any tickets purchased from 3 December 2021 onwards for people who are unable to present a Vaccine Pass.
If you are purchasing tickets for other people, please be aware they will need to present their Vaccine Pass upon entry to the event.
What if I’ve already made a booking but either myself or my attendees aren’t vaccinated?
Anybody who is unable to present a Vaccine Pass will not be able to enter the building.
We will be able to cancel your booking without any charge for anybody who has made a booking prior to 3 December 2021 and can no longer attend due to their vaccination status.
Any bookings made from 3 December onwards will require the person to have a Vaccine Pass. Any cancellations for bookings made after this date due to lack of Vaccine Passes may incur a cancellation fee.
Will I ever be able to come back to the Carterton Events Centre without a Vaccine Pass?
We would love to see you again! At this stage, we need to use Vaccine Passes to be able to continue to bring you the events you love and provide facilities for community use.
We will review these settings on a regular basis while keeping in line with the Government’s COVID Framework.

Carterton Swimming Pool
Children under 8 years old need to be accompanied by an adult with a Vaccine Pass.
Children aged 12 years and older will need to show a Vaccine Pass upon entry.
Children aged 12 years and need to bring their Vaccine Pass with them every time. No pass = no swim.
Opening hours
Opening times for the 2021/2022 season will be confirmed during the week of Monday 6 December.
Wairarapa Library Service: Carterton, Featherston, Martinborough, Greytown libraries
Passes are required at Featherston, Martinborough, Greytown, and Carterton libraries.
