Carterton’s Dalefield Horse Riding Park to open this weekend (plus media invitation)
Dalefield Horse Riding park near Carterton will open on Sunday 4 November at 11am, with an official ceremony attended by Carterton Mayor John Booth.
Located at the top of Dalefield Road in the Kaipaitangata Forest, the horse riding park is a collaboration between Carterton District Council who own the land, Forest Enterprises who manage it, and the local horse riding community.
Coordinator Rebecca Kent says Sunday marks an important milestone after many months of hard work:
“The park is a wonderful asset for the local riding community. It provides a safe, vehicle free environment to ride in. It is really going to come into it’s own in the winter months when it is too wet to ride at home or on farm land. The footing is very solid. We have had great interest from riders all over the lower North Island.” says Rebecca.
“Local businesses have really got behind us with a tremendous amount of generosity to help us get to this point. We have plans for future development, including developing more tracks, and we will continue to seek community support.”
“We also could not have done this without the awesome support of Carterton District Council and Forest Enterprises. Full credit to them for helping make the park a reality and creating an amenity which we hope will bring riders from across the lower North Island to Carterton.“ says Rebecca.
Access to the ride park is currently at weekends only for safety reasons and to ensure that there is no impact on current forestry operations. It will be managed by a booking system with key access.
