Below is a message from Rangitane following the  death of a diver at Flat Point Beach this week:

Tēnā tātou e te whanau,

He pānui tēnei kia mōhio mai koutou i takina te karakia

Please pass this message on to other whanau who may be visiting our coast
Over the Christmas period.
A Blessing was given at Flat point yesterday, we acknowledged Tangaroa for returning
Our precious taonga to his whanau, sadly our taonga was not completely returned.

We ask that you allow 2 weeks at the least and not dive, fish, or swim in that area
To acknowledge the whanau of our taonga, and for your own safety as well.
