Carterton District Council has been notified of a Possum Control contract which will take place from 27 September 2017 to the end of June 2018.
The project covers the Homewood and Riversdale areas. It runs from Whareama in the north, east of Stronvar, and ends just before Flat Point in the south. The contract is being coordinated by TB Free New Zealand.
The possum control will be making limited use of the schedule 1 poison, Feratox. Any Feratox used will be up trees, out of reach of stock, in bait stations or bags. The methods are aimed at being relatively safe and low-impact.
Risk to humans: All baits are poison, and are harmful to humans, especially young children.
