Media Statement – Mayor John Booth encourages the community to have their say.
With the announcement of the Local Government Commission (LGC) draft proposal for a Wairarapa District Council, Mayor John Booth is encouraging local community throughout the Wairarapa Region to inform themselves on the draft proposal and lodge their submissions.
Mayor Booth believes there are some good ideas in the proposal which would be beneficial for the future of Carterton and the Wairarapa.
“This is the time for our local people to have a voice and I encourage the debate on how our councils should be structured.”
“The commission will confirm their decision based off what the submissions say; whether you support the proposal or not, your say will help determine the outcome.”
Public submissions will close on Wednesday 3rd May at 4.00pm.
Mayor Booth, has been extremely pleased how LGC have managed the current consultation process.
